City’s dog ordinance starts to take shape

Montgomery City Council members are working to craft a dog ordinance aimed at reducing the number of vicious dogs running free, illegal breeding and other issues surrounding pet ownership in the city.

The Public Safety Standing Committee met Tuesday to work out some of the details, including setting punishment at $50 for the first offense, $250 for the second and $500 for the third. Any punishment beyond that would be decided by the Montgomery Municipal Court.
