Newark Police are asking for the public’s help finding two teenagers who stood by laughing while their pit bull attacked a small dog in the Barksdale Estates neighborhood.
Cpl. James Spadola said the attack happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday on Julie Lane. The victim dog, a 4-pound Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix, was tied up on its owner’s property.
The teenagers held the pit bull on a leash while it attacked the dog.
“The pit bull grabbed the dog by its rear leg and was shaking it,” Spadola said.
When its owner came out and raised concerns, the teenagers simply laughed, police said.
“They didn’t sic the dog on the other dog, but they didn’t do anything to stop it,” Spadola said.
