Woman given probation for 2012 Palermo dog attack – Oroville Mercury Register

Palermo woman has been placed on probation following a serious dog attack that wounded her neighbor in 2012.

Butte County Superior Court Judge James Reilley placed Chic Gordon, 56, on three years probation Friday.

In following the Probation Department’s recommendation, the judge said it would be more effective than a middle-term sentence of two years in county prison.

“I think the public will be much more safe with a probation with all sorts of conditions,” Reilley said.

He said he also considered Gordon’s lack of a prior record, her age and her apparent willingness to follow probation.

Probation terms included 90 days of jail. Gordon was also ordered to pay $91,981 in restitution, with $75,142 going to victim Virginia Lorusso.

  1. While I agree that the owner should pay hefty restitution, if he can, what about the majority of pit owners that cannot pay anything? Serious jail time might be the only thing that makes a lasting impression on these idiots.
