CHILD BITTEN BY PIT BULL; DEPUTY FIRES AT DOG
An 11-year-old was bitten on the leg by a neighbor’s dog on Parkwood Avenue on Saturday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy suffered a small cut on his leg, Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said in a release, describing the dog as a pit bull terrier. A neighbor also told deputies, who responded to the scene just before 6 p.m. Saturday, that the pit bull had bitten her dog.
The deputy saw the pit bull about 30 feet away, and the dog aggressively charged the deputy, McCabe said. The deputy shot at the dog, which “yelped and ran away,” McCabe said. The animal couldn’t be located after a search of the area.
Deputies cited the dog’s owner, a 34-year-old Clarkston man, for having a dog at large, and a report was sent to Oakland County Animal Control.
