La Crosse woman cited after pit bull attacks : Anne Jungen

A pit bull that escaped a La Crosse yard Wednesday attacked a Jack Russell terrier and bit its owner, according to police reports released Monday.

The owner of the terrier told officers she was walking her 13-year-old dog about 5:15 p.m. when the pit bull, named Holly, pushed open a gate at 2306 Onalaska Ave., reports stated. She heard a woman yell “Pick up your dog” before the pit bull clamped down on the terrier’s neck.

The terrier’s owner suffered bites to her fingers trying to separate the dogs. She was treated at a hospital and the terrier, Cody, was seen by a veterinarian, according to reports.

Police cited the pit bull’s owner, 36-year-old Salina Foster, for having a dog running-at-large that didn’t have a license or rabies vaccination. She’s due in La Crosse Municipal Court on Aug. 6 for $649 worth of citations.

Foster told police her pit bull is deaf and said it does have a current license and vaccinations.
