Police: Dog declared ‘dangerous’ attacks again, owner arrested | Local News – WPBF Home

Port St. Lucie police arrested Angel Bracero, 77, on Wednesday after his dog, known to be dangerous, attacked a neighbor while he was riding an electric scooter.

Police say the hound-mix named Hunter, was declared a dangerous dog from a previous attack incident on June 3, resulting in a woman being bitten on her right thigh.

During that incident, Bracero opened the door to leave the house and Hunter ran out, crossed the street and bit the victim, who was in her front yard located at 625 SW Bacon Terrace, the arrest report said.

The victim went to the hospital to be treated for the bite. Animal Control officers took Hunter for quarantine.

During the investigation to determine Hunter to be declared dangerous, Animal Control officers reviewed all the complaints into Hunter’s behavior.

The investigation revealed that on Dec. 19, 2013, Hunter was on a leash being held by Bracero’s granddaughter. A person who lives on a neighboring street was walking her dog past Bracero’s yard. Hunter broke loose from Bracero’s granddaughter’s grasp and jumped on the victim, causing her to fall and injure her foot, the report said.

Animal control officers noticed that there have been 7 other reports of Hunter running loose.

Out of those 7 reports, 4 were confirmed and police held Hunter overnight on June 2, 2014.

Hunter was declared dangerous on June 11, 2014 and notice was given to Bracero of the conditions and restriction relating to Hunter.

Police said that on June 29, 2014, Hunter again got loose and attacked a man who was passing by on an electric scooter. During this attack Hunter bit the victim on the shoe.

This recent attack by Hunter violated the restrictions of a declared dangerous dog and an arrest warrant was issued against Bracero, the report added.

Hunter was subsequently confiscated and taken to the Animal Control housing unit.

Bracero was arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
