Loose pit bulls attack, kill dog tied up | Dayton, OH News | www.whio.com

Police and animal control officers responded to a Dayton home this morning where a mixed chow breed dog was attacked and killed by two loose pit bulls.

The chow, named Bear, was tied up in his owner’s yard on Wesleyan Road when the attack occurred shortly before 8 a.m., according to its owner.

Neighbors heard what was happening and went outside. They said the attacking dogs looked like pit bulls and were not from the neighborhood.

An officer at the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center confirmed the breed of the attacking dogs as pit bulls.

One neighbor said it was a grisly sight and she feared for her own safety.

An ARC officer responded and took the two pit bulls away to the animal shelter on Webster Street. Police said the dogs went willingly and did not act aggressive to the animal control officer.
