Man Claims Dogs Broke Through Window & Killed His Dog « CBS Miami

Ply-wood covers a shattered glass window at David Colvill’s Miramar home. It sounds hard to believe but he said two neighborhood dogs broke through the window Monday morning.

“I could see a dog in mid-flight going straight through the window, and he punched his way right through the window with his head…he went straight into the house,” said Colvill.

Colvill said the dogs attacked his two dogs named Linus and Lucy.

“I end up in a rolling fight on the floor trying to protect them. That’s how I got bitten,” said Colvill.

Colvill was able to protect one of his dogs with his own body but the other dog, Lucy, was killed in the attack.

“I could hear that terrible noise and everything as she was being attacked by one of the other dogs,” said Colvill.

The two attacking dogs are owned by a man a few doors down. CBS4’s MaryAnn Martinez knocked at the house, but no one came to the door.

Neighbors identified one of the dogs allegedly involved in the attack. It’s unknown where the second dog is.

Miramar Police told CBS4 both dogs were legally ordered to be in the owner’s backyard after the attack.

“I mean somebody has got to stop it. It’s ridiculous that these people can have these dogs,” said Colvill.

He said he expected the attack dogs would have been picked up by animal control but all the agency did was cite the owner.

Police said there is no fee associated with that code violation. Colville said that’s not good enough.

“We’re going to court. We are most certainly taking all legal actions. I mean we’re going to go for him,” said Colvill.
