Two pit bulls have been detained after they attacked another dog on Ojo Caliente Street just before 9 a.m. on Monday, said Victorville Animal Control officials.
Raul Mendoza, 45, of Victorville told the Daily Press on Monday that his boxer was attacked by two pit bulls that had been roaming the area.
“This has been an issue for months,” Mendoza said. “Somebody is raising them. The other day there were two puppies in my yard and I see pit bulls walking around all the time.”
Mendoza said his yard and garage were covered in blood and when he discovered the pit bulls, they attempted to come after him.
“They started coming toward me and I had to grab my hose and spray them to keep them away,” Mendoza said.
Victorville Animal Control said Animal Control officers received a call at 8:50 a.m. of two pit bulls who had broken through a fence. The dogs were taken and are awaiting an owner to come forward. If no owner comes forward, the dogs will be humanely euthanized.
“Something needs to be done before kids are attacked,” Mendoza said. “Thankfully I was the one that found these dogs, but if a kid had walked out first, it would’ve been really bad.”
