Pitbull attacks daughter, father | Albuquerque Journal News

A 90-pound pitbull, “Stitches”, bit an 8-year-old girl and her father Saturday, resulting in severe injuries to the father and a face injury to the daughter.

Police said they arrived on the 6500 block of Kelly NE in response to a reported dog attack. Police said the girl’s father intervened and was badly bit in the testicles. Paramedics told police he was rushed to the hospital with injuries described as a “severe laceration/detachment” Albuquerque police spokesman Simon Drobik said in an email.

The 8-year-old girl was treated on scene for the face injury and is in the care of her mother, Drobik said.

Drobik said the family moved into the home a few days ago and the dog belonged to a relative who recently died. Animal control officers recommend slowly introducing yourself and your children to any new animal.

The dog will be quarantined for 10 days, and, if the family doesn’t want it back, animal control officers will try and adopt it out, unless they deem it too aggressive.
