A man has lost part of a finger after being attacked by a dog in western Sydney.
Police said the man was set upon by the Staffordshire terrier after entering his neighbours’ yard in St Clair yesterday afternoon.
The dog bit off one of the man’s fingers at the second knuckle.
Police went to the property and tried to subdue the dog with capsicum spray but were also attacked by the animal.
The dog ran away but council rangers later found it in a nearby street.
The finger has been recovered and the man is being treated in hospital.
