An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized after being attacked by a dog Sunday afternoon.
The boy had been walking down Rena Street SW when the dog broke loose of the chain it was on and bit the boy, said Grand Rapids Police Department Lt. Mark Ostapowicz.
The boy suffered non-life threatening injuries and required stiches on some lacerations, including on his arms.
As of 5 p.m. Sunday, Ostapowicz said the dog had not been removed by Kent County Animal Control, to his knowledge.
The dog involved was described as a pit bull.
