Young girl pulled to the ground by out of control dog in park – Hemel Gazette

A young girl was viciously pulled to the ground by her hair by an out of control dog at playing fields in Bennetts End.

During the rampage at Hemel Hempstead’s Coronation Fields a five-year-old boy, who was playing with a group of friends, suffered an allergic reaction when the dog, which was not on a lead, approached him.

Now police are appealing for witnesses in a bid to track down the owner of the English bull terrier, described as having brown patches.

The nine-year-old girl was left shaken but not seriously injured by the ordeal.

A woman – believed to be the pet’s owner – restrained the dog after the attack. She is described as short and aged in her late 40s.

PC Michael Ball said: “Luckily no one was seriously hurt but the children have been left shaken by what happened. We are appealing for anyone who knows of this dog or its owner to come forward.

“If anyone was in the park at the time and saw what happened I would also ask them to contact me.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Ball via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference D1/14/4900. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
