Police in Dauphin County say the owners of a pit bull are facing charges after it attacked and bit an eight-year-old.
Steelton Police were called on Tuesday to the 700 block of South River Alley for a dog bite victim. Police say this is the second pit bull problem in this same area, but not the same dog.
During this incident, police say an eight-year-old was seriously bitten by the dog. It reportedly happened when several children were playing and riding their scooters in River Alley when the pit bull crawled under an opening in it’s fenced-in yard.
When the pit bull escaped, police say it charged at the child, biting him in the lower leg and face. Police are crediting a brave neighbor for immediately pulling and punching the dog away from the child until it let go.
The child was taken to Harrisburg Hospital Emergency Room.
The owners of the pit bull, Dawn Wright and Steven Vujasinovich are facing charges including failure to confine a dangerous dog.
