A dog owner has been charged after a serious bite at a home in the southeast Calgary neighbourhood of Radisson Heights.
A woman suffered serious injuries to her face last Thursday when she was attacked by a pit bull, according to Animal and Bylaw Services.
Officials said the woman had to have four hours of surgery for the wounds on her face.
An Animal and Bylaw Services spokesperson says the dog was a pet and has been with the family for about two years.
The dog is now in the care of bylaw services, where it will be under a mandatory quarantine for 10 days to undergo an assessment.
The owner has been charged with attack causing severe injury and unlicensed dog. The charges could lead to fines up to $10,000.
