A 61-YEAR-OLD woman was viciously attacked by a German Shepherd as she walked to work.
At 6.30am last Thursday, the woman was attacked by the dog while walking along Stileman Way, Sharnbrook.
She suffered serious injuries to her face and arms and was taken to Lister Hospital hospital where she underwent surgery, though her condition was not thought to be life-threatening. She has now returned home.
The dog was on a lead but when the owner stopped to clear up after it the dog managed to slip the owner’s grip and attack the passerby. There was no apparent reason for the attack.
The dog was seized by Bedfordshire Police and the owner now faces the possibility of prosecution.
One Sharnbrook resident said the attack had ‘shocked the whole village.’
